Incident Type

There are several different incident types that can be entered using the internet. Please select one from the list below and continue. If the incident you are reporting has a known suspect, you should instead call us at (206) 296-3311.
Incident TypeDefinitionExamples
  This is to report valuable property that you have lost (not property that has been stolen).You were out in public and left your purse or laptop computer somewhere. It has not been turned in to Lost and Found. As far as you know, it has not been taken by someone for his or her own use.
  Mail or a package is stolen from your mailbox or porch (e.g., US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, etc.)Someone takes mail from your locked or unlocked mailbox or porch at your residence or business.
  Property is taken from a building or structure that is open to the public or the person had legal access to the building.

● Does not include someone breaking into a building or structure or entering it without permission;
● No suspect information;
● No physical evidence to be collected.
● Theft from your house by a guest or someone invited in (laborer, sales, etc.);
● Wallet is taken from your purse in your grocery cart while you are inside the store;
● You have a gathering at your house and someone steals something from inside your house but you don't know which guest did it.
  ● Theft of property from inside a vehicle;
● No suspect information;
● No physical evidence to be collected.
Property taken from inside a vehicle (e.g., briefcases, wallets, CDs, iPods, etc.).
  Property stolen from a non-secured or unprotected area. This does not include items that are stolen from inside a building or other structure. No known suspects.Property stolen from yard, open carport, park, etc. If a package delivered by the USPS or commercial delivery company such as UPS or FED EX package was stolen from a porch/front door, select the incident type "Mail Theft" (click here).
  ● Theft of vehicle parts and/or accessories that are attached to a vehicle.
● No known suspects.
● Choose this incident type if vehicle parts (or accessories) that were attached to a vehicle was the ONLY thing stolen. Otherwise, select Theft From Vehicle as the incident type.
● Installed stereo equipment
● GPS attached to the vehicle
● Installed car battery
● Gasoline siphoned from the tank
It does not include parts or accessories that were not attached to a vehicle when stolen.
  The act of changing, modifying or defacing public or private property and nothing is stolen. If you are reporting gang-related graffiti, you will need to have photos of it to attach to this report. Otherwise, we will need to send an officer out to look at the graffiti.

● Graffiti, knocking over mail box, throwing rock through windows, etc.
  The act of changing, modifying or defacing vehicles. Nothing is stolen.Paint scratched, tires flattened, etc.
  Prowling in a vehicle, but nothing is missing. No vandalism to the vehicle. If there is vandalism to the vehicle, report it under Vandalism.It is obvious someone has been inside your vehicle because the contents have been disturbed. There has been no attempt to steal the vehicle.
